Untangle 8.0 adds Bandwidth Control for Network Administrators

SAN MATEO, Calif., November 16, 2010 – Untangle, Inc., a network software company, today announced the release of Untangle® 8.0, the latest version of its award-winning multi-functional firewall software. The new version includes a new application, Bandwidth Control, which provides unmatched control over internet bandwidth usage. Untangle now enables small businesses and schools to prioritize access to approved web sites and service, throttle access to others, and set internet access quotas for individual users.
As social media tools, online gaming and internet video sites consume ever more bandwidth, the performance of business-critical cloud-based applications is affected. Untangle 8.0’s new Bandwidth Control capability provides administrators with the fine-grained control needed to optimize their users’ internet access, enabling small businesses to lower bandwidth costs, increase productivity and prioritize important services.
