Untangle is First Security Vendor to Receive Accreditation from MSPAlliance

SAN MATEO, Calif. – September 24, 2007 – Untangle, the pioneer in open source network gateway platforms, today announced that it is the first security vendor to receive accreditation under the MSPAlliance’s (MSPA) Vendor Accreditation Program (VAP). VAP has been designed by MSPs as a benchmark for vendors who sell to the MSP community. Vendors who bear the VAP seal have shown they abide by the highest principles of quality in areas such as product research and development, positive channel practices, financial stability and MSP customer satisfaction.

“The Vendor Accreditation Program is important for the MSP channel because the MSPs were the ones who created it,” said Charles Weaver, president of the MSPAlliance. “We are very proud to have Untangle as a part of this prestigious body of Vendors.” VAP was created using a wide base of criteria considered important by MSPs when selecting a vendor. Criteria examined during the accreditation process include:

  • Business practices: Focusing on channel development, channel competition safeguards, and experience in the managed services industry.
  • Product Roadmap: Examining the vendor’s willingness to invest in their products in order to ensure continued relevance for MSPs throughout their maturation.
  • Financial: Examination of financial stability to ensure adequate support of channel initiatives and product development.
  • Client References: Confirmation of customer satisfaction with MSP client references.

“Our goal is to deliver effective, top-quality technology services to our customers,” said Steve Ferman, CEO of Compunite, an Untangle MSP customer. “Untangle’s flexible and open source solution is both a perfect fit to safeguard the network of small businesses and a cost-effective way for MSPs to better meet the technology needs of their small business customers.” ”

We believe in the MSP market, and the MSPA Accreditation confirms the strength of our program,” said Bob Walters, CEO of Untangle. “MSPs can now offer affordable enterprise class network security to their clients with no upfront costs, which is a win-win for everyone.”
