Untangle Adds Small/Home Office Model to its NG Firewall Appliance Range

u25 Brings Enterprise-Grade Network Security to the Smallest Offices

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Mar. 1, 2016Untangle®, Inc., a security software and appliance company, announced a pair of new network security appliances specifically designed for the small or home office, bringing next-generation firewall capabilities out of the data center and into the living room. Introduced for the first time today at the RSA Conference, the Untangle u25 and u25w appliances have the smallest footprint of any network security appliance on the market, measuring less than five inches square. Available in a wired or wireless model, the appliances are fanless, making them ideal for quiet desktop operation. They include an HDMI video port, three gigabit ethernet ports and two USB ports, providing easy access to all the trusted network security features of the rest of the NG Firewall appliance line.

“The u25 is perfect for small business, branch or home office customers who require robust network security at an affordable price and in a form factor that makes sense,” said Dirk Morris, founder and chief product officer at Untangle. “The u25 delivers that without compromise.”

The u25 and u25w provide small and home offices with powerful, next-generation firewall features, including:

  • Protection – Full unified threat management (UTM) capabilities including all the features of the latest Untangle NG Firewall release, version 12.
  • Visibility – Ability to manage internet traffic by application, website, port, protocol and more on a per-user or per-group basis.
  • Connectivity – Virtual private network (VPN) capability for seamless connections to corporate networks, plus captive portal for use with the Wi-Fi model.
  • Performance – Bandwidth control, WAN balancing and failover for optimum Quality of Service (QoS).

Untangle NG Firewall’s ICSA certified appliances deliver a comprehensive solution for content filtering, malware and threat protection, secure Wi-Fi, application control, bandwidth optimization, virtual private networks and more. Untangle combines Unified Threat Management (UTM)—to address all of the key network threats—with policy management tools that enable administrators to monitor, manage and shape internet traffic. NG Firewall’s fully customizable industry-leading reports provide administrators an unprecedented level of insight into what’s happening on their networks across all applications by user, group, time of day and more. Untangle NG Firewall is available as a turnkey appliance such as the u25 and u25w, or as downloadable software to be run on a customer’s own hardware or as a virtual appliance.

The u25 starts at $399 for the wired appliance and $419 for the wireless appliance; both include a one-year warranty (extended warranties available).
