Donate A Computer

Help by giving your unwanted computers to schools in need

A typical desktop computer with monitor, keyboard and mouse has approximately 50 pounds of toxic electronic components that can be pretty nasty in the landfill.  What better way to give your older PCs new life than by refurbishing them for schools!

Seeking Pentium III or newer systems:

We're trying to build the computers we donate to schools to a minimum spec of a Pentium III level processor with 256MB or ram.  If you have a computer that meets the processor specs we'd love to refurbish it on your behalf.  You can either:

  1. Bring your computer to LinuxWorld in San Francisco*
  2. Find an Installfest for Schools in your neighborhood

*Tax deductible receipts will be available from ACCRC at LinuxWorld

Recycling Pentium II or older computers:

If you have older computers that don't meet these specs we'd love to help you recycle them properly.  In the San Francisco Bay Area, you can recycle your unwanted electronic waste for free with the ACCRC.  For the rest of North America, a list of responsible electronics recyclers can be found here
